Description
Yingde County
China’s handmade tea is mainly produced in Yunnan, Zhejiang, Fujian and Anhui, but Guangdong is the province with the most tea lovers. Although the province does not have a long history of tea cultivation, the humid subtropical climate and abundant rainfall make it an ideal place to grow tea. Therefore, locals naturally create their own unique tea to cater to local tastes.
Since the beginning of the 21st century, Yingde County has become the best black tea producing area in Guangdong. Small-scale black tea farms have sprung up like mushrooms after a rain, and the future is bright. Tea farmers in Fenghuang Mountain, Guangdong, have successfully produced oolong tea that is comparable to that of Wuyi Mountain in Fujian, which has greatly encouraged tea farmers in Yingde.
Yinghong No. 9 cultivar
Yinghong No. 9 is a carefully cultivated tea variety, which was bred from Yunnan large-leaf tea trees in 1961. It was recognized as a provincial fine variety in 1986 and is highly praised for its early germination, long growth period and suitability for black tea production. It has a tall plant with a semi-open appearance, dense branches and large, oval leaves. The leaves are light green, shiny, slightly folded inwards, and have wavy edges. The petals are yellow-green and fuzzy, and each new bud has three leaves.
