The last stop of the Mengku trip
In 2022/2023, our Puer tea sourcing efforts are focused on the Mengku tea region , which is famous for its vast ancient tea forests. After visiting 10 villages and 13 tea gardens, and tasting over a hundred types of tea, we selected only the best materials as part of our in-house tea cake selection.
As a result of our exploration of the Mengku tea region, we previously launched the Banuo and Zhengqitang tea cakes. Now, our Mengku journey will end with the Green Pond tea cake. This premium tea cake is loved by the entire Teasenz team and we are very happy to share it with you.
Green Pond
Lushuitang is a small village west of Mengku River. The village is about 2,300 meters above sea level and is surrounded by nature and clouds.
Top production process
Every step in the processing of this tea cake is done with great care.
Hand-crafted : The tea leaves are picked and processed by hand in late September 2023. That’s why you won’t find a lot of broken tea leaves in our tea cakes.
Aging in loose tea form : Most Pu’er tea is directly pressed into cakes, but Teasenz’s unique process is to initially store the tea leaves in loose form. This allows the initial aging of the tea leaves to be even and the aroma to accumulate faster. Although many producers avoid this step to save costs and storage space, we believe this will result in a higher quality product.
Steaming and Stone Pressing : In mid-January 2024, the tea leaves are steamed and stone pressed into round cakes.
Double Packaging : After drying, the tea cakes are wrapped in two layers of wrapping paper for further aging. Five tea cakes are then packed in a tube with dry bamboo strips for protection during transportation.
